Learn More about College Park
Purpose
The College Park Neighborhood Association is proud to serve the
Residents of College Park since 1996. Our mission has been to
provide a forum for Residents to share information, concerns and
ideas relevant to improving and maintaining the neighborhood we
all share. The CPNA enjoys lively partnerships with Palm Beach
County, the City of Lake Worth, other Lake Worth Neighborhood
Associations, the Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce, and
civic groups throughout the community. CPNA is incorporated as
a non-profit organization in the State of Florida.
Goals for 2011
Completion of the Spillway Park Improvement Project:
This project was begun in 2005 with a neighborhood survey and
came to fruition in 2011 with the assistance of a matching grant
awarded to the Association by the Palm Beach County Office of
Community Revitalization in partnership with the City of Lake
Worth and the South Florida Water Management District. New picnic
tables, grills, trash receptacles, a pet station and mulched quarter
mile walking trail have been installed. A Grand Opening Picnic
in the Park was held in July 2011.
Neighborhood Identification Banners:
College Park Street Banners were designed with an updated logo
and have been hung in 12 strategic locations throughout the neighborhood
on Pennsylvania, North Lakeside and Federal Highway. The project,
to build community pride and encourage Resident engagement in
the Association is part of a city wide effort to highlight and
celebrate the 14 distinct and diverse neighborhoods in Lake Worth.
In addition, yard signs have been made to announce upcoming meetings.
These are placed around the neighborhood one week in advance of
the meetings.
Communication:
The College Park website is continually updated with news and
information for our neighbors. Timely information is disseminated
via email and occasionally through door hangers distributed throughout
the nearly 600 homes in College Park. In September 2011, the “Campus
Life” Neighborhood Association newsletter will again be
published and distributed to all College Park residents. A neighborhood
wide survey is planned for the Fall of 2011 to identify areas
of concern, new projects and ideas for improving the Association
and the Neighborhood.
Community Involvement:
The College Park Neighborhood Association is an active member
of the Neighborhood
Association Presidents’ Council. This year we participated
in the 4th of July Star Spangled Celebration in Bryant Park as
well as the 10th Annual Great Raft Race. In June, the CPNA held
a Candidate Forum in partnership with the Eden Place Neighborhood
Association to allow Residents the opportunity to meet and hear
from Candidates in the Special Mayoral election. A College Park
Forum will also be held in October in advance of the November
election as well.
By-Laws Update:
In December, newly revised and updated by-laws will be presented
to the membership for adoption.
Membership Drive:
Efforts are continually underway to increase Neighbors’
active participation in the Association. A PayPal feature has
been added to the Association website to make it more convenient
for Residents to support the CPNA by joining and paying their
dues safely and securely online. Membership is not required to
attend meetings or to receive email updates.
Meetings:
Meetings are held quarterly in March, June, September and December
at the First Congregational Church on North K Street, usually
on the last Monday of the month at 6:30pm. Membership is open
to all residents of College Park and annual dues are $25 per person
or $50 per household.
Boundaries:
The College Park Neighborhood extends from Dixie Highway on the
west to the Intracoastal Waterway on the east. The northern boundary
is the West Palm Beach (C-51) Canal, and the southern boundary
is Wellesley Dr (formerly 19th Ave N).
